The following are a few variations to the game STRATEGO that I have seen or thought of that might change things up a bit if you are currently bored with the regular game of STRATEGO.
VARIATIONS TO THE GAME STRATEGY
Classic Four Player Stratego
Each player sets their pieces each on the four sides of the board shown in the illustration. Instead of two lakes, there are now four in the center. Players turns alternate clockwise. Once a player's flag is captured or he has no moveable pieces left, he is out of the game. Last player standing wins.
Four Player Doubles Stratego
This is a version I have wanted to try for a while. Each team has two players. One player sets up the board and gives a general guide for the second player on how to play using the setup. The second player on the team plays the game based on the strategy he was given. Rules are the same for regular game.
Hexagonal Board Stratego
Instead of playing on a 10x10 board of squares, play on a board of hexagons. Since each hexagon has potentially six sides to be attacked from, protecting your flag might be more difficult.
Variable Attack Strength Stratego
Instead of the higher ranking official always defeating the lower ranking official, each player rolls a die. This is added to the rank of their official. The lowest total wins. This adds a little bit more luck into the game.
Polish Stratego
Each player sets his opponent's pieces up. Very stupid game, as you can win by setting all six bombs in the front lines not allowing your opponent to make one move. Don't try this game unless you are a moron.
